Welcome to Year 4!

Our year group provides a safe and exciting learning environment, where children enjoy a new and insightful learning journey every half term. In Year 4, we encourage children to always try their best and support them in their journey for knowledge.

On this page you will be able to find out more about what we are doing this term as well as access links to support with home learning and the wider curriculum.

Thank you,

Hooke Court

We are very excited to be offering our trip to Hooke Court again this year. On this residential trip, children have the opportunity to stay in a 14th Centuary manor house and take part in exciting activities such as cooking, crafts, drama and dance. In previous years, the children have had a wonderful time and it often comes up as a favourite memory when they leave in Year 6.

Year 4 Homework Expectations

Reading

In Year 4, children will continue to be set reading targets using the Accelerated Reader diagnostic assessments.  Class teachers will monitor this throughout the school year, supporting children to achieve their personal targets by reading with them, encouraging them to read independently, and recommending books.

Reading to an adult at home has a huge impact on a child's ability to read with fluency and prosody so please read with your child as much as possible. We encourage you to read with your child three times per week.

TT Rockstars

Children will be set 15 games per week on TT Rockstars, a game that helps them learn their times tables. The National Curriculum states that children should know all of their times tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4. In the summer term, they will take part in the Multiplication Tables Check, a statutory test that all Year 4 pupils take nationally. Fluency with multiplication and division facts has an extremely positive impact on all other areas of mathematics learning. Please encourage your children to complete their games every week. Click here to access TT Rockstars
